Purple Cane @ Shaw Parade Review
Healthy Food

I still remember going there for a full course meal with my colleagues. Like the title, healthy food and most of the food are infused with tea. If you into tea and healthy food, this is the best place for you to dine.

Family dining room

This place is mainly patronised by Chinese folks. It is a pretty space to host your meals with family. I am not crazy about their food but the establishment has been around for 2 decades I think. Their menu is branded with dishes cooked with tea, although you may not always taste it. My old folks like the place but it is not a place I would go on my own. Doorstep parking is sometimes available, otherwise you just have to find parking in the building. Driver drop-off is good. Chinese...

If I have to dine in Purple Cane, I would go to the one at the Chinese Assembly Hall, although this branch is much nearer to me.

Best place to hang out with friends

Been there yesterday and order their set lunch. Overall the food was good but the taufu still have space for improvement. For the set lunches, with an add-on of rm2 you can choose more than 5 desserts. I had chosen the green tea pudding for my girlfriend and she like it very much because of the strong taste of green tea. It is a must-order food for those green tea lover. Avoid sitting inside the small section that can fit only 4 tables, it has some unpleasant smell which might affect ur...

The service is so so, i raise my hand in the air for like 2 mins and there is any response yet due to the waitresses were busy talking to each other ignoring the customer..

purple cane vegetarian menu

just try their vegetarian menu.Great food and portion is large. Price is a little expensive , but for the place like gardens, it is about the range.Service is average as some waiter or waitress are too young, could not manage to hold on the teapot (traditional clay made) and some even break it on the floor. A little scary moment when they hand over the soup to your place.Overall food is great and of course their tea , lots of choices

Not too keen

Cooking with tea is an interesting concept, but I found the flavour of the food to be flat. The veggies were plain, and some dishes had a strange smell from the tea. Not terribly exciting to a carnivore like me. I guess this is better for those who are watching their health. Some of my friends enjoyed it, so to each his (or in this case, her) own.

I had Fried Tea Rice With XO Sauce & Rose Egg Custard, also Ice Lemon Black Tea. The rice had a slight hint of tea, yummy yumMy ^^ Overall, the food is pretty decent. 赞 !

Tastea

I wasn't initially sold by the idea of mixing food with tea but it's actually very tasty and unique. The tea flavour is quite subtle but you can definitely taste it (or at least smell its aroma). We ordered the Aromatic Crispy Duck and some veggies. At first the duck was a little bit dry but mix it up with their magnificent special tea sauce and your taste buds will thank you. The atmosphere is acceptable, considering that they want to maintain their authenticity.

Bland

This place is good for family dos and business lunches for the area as there are not many other places to go to in that calibre. The food are all made with tea leaves, but I find the cooking style a bit too bland for my liking. However it has remained a great favourite with the older folks and some people around me, so I humour it without much to complain about. Certainly not a place to impress anyone with. Parking can be a bitch when there is something going on at the Chinese Assembly Hall,...

However it has remained a great favourite with the older folks and some people around me, so I humour it without much to complain about. Certainly not a place to impress anyone with. Parking can be a bitch when there is something going on at the Chinese Assembly Hall, so avoid driving there at all cost. They survived for so many years, so I believe there is something they must be doing right. Maybe it is just me who doesn't like that type of Chinese food, it is just so boring for me. The atmosphere is much prettier at the Shaw Parade branch but this is the original restaurant, hence there is something quite old school about the place. To be fair, I am fascinated by their stuff they sell in the tea shop. I am drawn to explore into that more than going there for a meal.
