I went with my family to Dareen recently to celebrate my husband's birthday and it was a very disappointing experience. We sat outside on the terrace and the traffic noise was quite overwhelming. The place was close to empty, but despite that, we found the service appalling and the food barely edible.
Once we had managed to attract a waitress's attention to order, we sat there waiting for about 20 minutes and then the waitress came back and told us that there was no more chicken and we'd need to reorder 3 dishes. We ordered a fish dish and a couple of lamb dishes, wondering why it had taken her so long to tell us this rather important fact. Up front would have been better. We waited some more and received some baba ghanoush dip (average at best), some bread and a very little tabouli salad. The tomatoes in the tabouli were starting to ferment and they had not used fresh lemon juice. It tasted as if it was leftovers from the day before - possibly the worse tabouli I've had the misfortune to try.
A while later the waitress came back to us and said that they'd also run out of the fish in the dish I'd ordered. She couldn't tell me which fish they actually had and returned to the kitchen, returning 10 minutes later to tell me I could order the grilled fish, which I did. After some more waiting (the children were getting very impatient by this stage), two of the 5 mains came out. My grilled fish was so overdone it was almost charcoal, and it was accompanied by more of those old tomatoes and some greasy french fries. I found it almost inedible. My son's lamb dish was unimpressive and he ate only a bit of it. The other three mains did not appear. We called the waitress over to ask about the other dishes and a few minutes later a kebab came out but nothing else. Ten minutes passed and I called a waiter over to find out what was going on and he said there was no more fish and chips (one of my children had ordered this). I said we'd also ordered moussaka and he went to check on that, only to return some time later to say there was no moussaka. At this point we gave up in disgust, paid for what we'd eaten and left.
I would say avoid this place at all costs. There are so many good places in KL - why bother with a place that has such poor food and poor attitude to customer service?
