Went to Canton-i @ One Utama for lunch today. My sister and I queueing, many ppl leaving and there were empty tables inside but the man who I later learnt was the manager (Ryan Liew) seemed a bit lost. Eventually he came and handed my sister a piece of paper with no explanation. My sister who was standing in front of me tried to ask why there were tables and we were not being seated. I told my sister not to complain and indicated to the manager that we were together. He ignored us, continued to the back of the queue and then back into the restaurant. We waited and could not understand why there were empty tables and no one was being seated. Finally, without a word, he indicated us to a table. My sister was surprised by his rudeness but I told my sister that Ryan was just not very happy today. During the meal I needed some paper napkins. I tried to avoid sour-faced Ryan but the other waiters were busy so I thought I'd give him a second chance. I asked him politely for the napkins, he nodded - still not voice - but he failed to deliver although he did look my way several times. I had to ask another water for the napkins. As I said, he may not be happy, but in the service, there is no excuse for his behaviour. On the other hand I must commend Archie - he always had a smile on his face and attended cheerfully to our requests. He was busy serving other tables but the minute I lifted my teapot cover, he was right there asking if I needed more water. Archie gets full marks! I rate your service poor because your manager needs to be taught a lesson in courtesy.

Canton I One Utama staff really nee...

Canton I One Utama staff really need to go for intensive training! I had a very bad experience. The Chinese waitress (a bit plump) with full fridge covering her forehead is very unprofessional. After taking our orders, she literally forgotten or purposely did not key in into the system for preparation. Waited for 10 mins and the drinks did not come out because she did not key in the order. Worst of all, she did not apologise and start giggling with other staff. She was also hostile and unfriendly with customers. Canton I, please TRAIN your staff!

Horrible Dinner @ Canton-i

Booked a PROSPERITY ABALONE TREASURE POT in person on Fri 15th Feb 2013 for the same evening at 7pm and paid in advance as per required. Arrived 6.50pm and had to wait till 7.43pm before being served the special dish,....after 2 angry complaints (and gotten non professional replies) ,what served was COLD generally and required the broth to be heated up with the potable gas stove. Arrived 6.50pm and had to wait till 7.43pm before being served the special dish,....after 2 angry complaints (and gotten non professional replies) ,what served was COLD generally and required the broth to be heated up with the potable gas stove. Most if not all ingredients were pre-cooked and yet the long delay ! The ingredients especially the sea cucumber is of low quality and badly cooked / prepared. The baby abalone has different softness texture,...again evidence of improper preparations. The broth is "thin" and tasted like water down soup. It is definitely the worst such dish my family ever tasted or experience. Certainly did not worth the money charged. Can anyone tolerate a pre-paid, pre-booked special meal and made to wait in excess of 45 minutes and being served under par ingredients and preparations ??? Is this the attitude of Canton-i ???

expensive!

went for lunch for two persons, hmmm basically i really feel that the price is expensive. From the food potion they provide, yes, i don think it can cost in this price. No doubt the taste is no too bad, but still no really up to expectation with the price they charge. And although they seem have quite a lot of staffs around the restaurant, but overall they really need to train the staffs again as we hav to call them for few times, well, i cant see they are super busy!

Tasty BBQ pork pastry

My mum loves the BBQ pork pastry here and I love their signature wonton noodles with jumpo prawns wonton in soup. The prawns were fresh and crunchy and the soup is delicious. I am happy with the service there as well. With good food and good service I think it value for money eating at Canton-i.

Quality Cantonese/Hong Kong food.

Even simple things like noodles and porridge are taken to new heights here. The food looks simple in presentation but the taste really is something! I always come back for the XO Radish Cake and my husband LOVES the Roast Duck Noodle. The duck was tender and the noodles delightfully springy. The a la carte menu might be considered pricey for many, but when you see the queue during dinner and satisfied diners you know that their food is worth the price they ask. The a la carte menu might be considered pricey for many, but when you see the queue during dinner and satisfied diners you know that their food is worth the price they ask. My only qualm is with the vegetable stir fry. RM16-18 for just a plate of vegetables and very minimal toppings/seasoning is just too much for me to consider ordering.

Wan Tan Mee is one of the famous delights is Canton-I and it is the signature delights there as well. As for Yin Yong, it comes with wantan and sui kau where there are big juicy prawns in both and I love it very much ^^

Never a disappointment!

This canton-i outlet is located at LG level at the gardens, right to one end of the mall near coffee bean and bert's bees. It's very easy to get to but sometimes it can be quite packed at peak times so often you'll see the queue building around the entrance. Simply put, I love coming to this restaurant. The food is never disappoints - it's delicious! It's the kind of delicious where you'll spend the rest of your day trying to figure out how they could make a simple "duck rice" dish so...

It's the kind of delicious where you'll spend the rest of your day trying to figure out how they could make a simple "duck rice" dish so lip-smackingly gorgeous. Then it hits you ... the duck, the rice, both gorgeous as expected but then there's half of a boiled egg and a bit of veggie too, which you'd expect to be the "meh" parts - serving no other purpose but to add colour to your dish... but you'll be surprised, I sure was! The egg was hot, firm and the yolk (which normally would be drier then the Sahara desert) was moist and appealing. The veggie was fresh with great texture and taste. It was a truly a great dish, a complete dish and very very satisfying. That experience was my first time at canton-i and I've enjoyed every subsequent visit after that. The service is always tight with attentive and highly organised staff - sure, it's not perfect but it's pretty decent overall. There's an open kitchen at the entrance and at the back which I've always found fun to watch as I wait for my food. A funny thing I've noticed is that although the "outside" wall is like this slanted array of panels which means you can see the diners inside - I've never felt like it made eating here any less private/personal. Good job architect guy! In conclusion, I would highly recommend this place and everyone I've recommended it to says the same. The food is great, the price is reasonable and the experience is always pleasant.
